Community Food Pantry volunteers Mary Harris, Jannie Carter and Jackie Brown load canned and boxed goods into buggies Friday at the pantry's new location at 7125 Turner Lake Circle. The pantry has relocated from Brown Street and is now adjacent to FaithWorks, a local nonprofit organization that assists residents with utility and rent bills. The pantry accepts applications for assistance from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Mondays and Thursdays and hands out food from 9:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays. In addition to donations from the community, several local restaurants participate in the pantry's Harvest Program. On Friday, Pizza Hut donated pizzas to hand out to those picking up supplies. For more information about the pantry, call 770-784-0037.More like this story
