"Maybe people didn't vote on July 15 because they couldn't afford the gas to drive to the polls. This was the first time I have ever went to the polls and been the only voter at the booth. Which brings up another question: Why did we open up all these additional voting places? Seems like a waste of money. Oh, I forgot - that is what the Newton County government excels - spending and wasting money."

CANTON - Both Post 77 baseball squads hit the field Thursday in the first round of the North Georgia Area Tournament, and with mixed results.
School system fails to meet AYP Nine county schools below standard
COVINGTON - The Newton County School System has not met Adequate Yearly Progress after previously meeting it for three consecutive years, with nine of the schools in the system failing to initially meet AYP.
