Edward Murphy, with Hicklin Grading in Fayetteville, operates a large back hoe, while CJ Sears works out of a smaller one Monday at Oxford College. Construction crews are renovating the campus quadrangle this summer as part of the college's master plan, which was created in 1998 and updated in 2005. College Dean Steve Bowen said crews are replacing most of the roadways on three of the four sides of the quad and replacing it with brick. He said it will substantially increase the green space in the area and reduce the traffic. "We hope it will make it a more pleasant environment," he said. Crews started last week on the work and are aiming to complete the project by the time the college reopens for students the last week of August. The project also includes improving the lighting and landscaping.
