CONYERS - A man suspected of creating and supplying fraudulent identification cards to illegal immigrants has been arrested on a bevy of drug charges.
In a press statement released by the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office on Monday, investigators with the Narcotics and Vice Unit arrested Antonio Maza-Castillio, 40, of 1375 Woodbridge Drive on July 16 after conducting a two-month investigation. Sgt. Jodi Shupe, spokeswoman with the RCSO, stated that undercover officers had purchased drugs from a person at that residence several times over the course of the investigation. Investigators searched the home July 16 and found documents used to produce fraudulent identification materials, along with seven bags of powder cocaine, plastic bags, scales and distributing materials, according to the release. Maza-Castillio was charged with two counts of sale of cocaine, one count of possession of marijuana and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute. Shupe said that investigators believe Maza-Castillio is an illegal citizen of the country and was making IDs for other illegal residents. "We believe he is an illegal alien based on the fact that he could not provide documentation that he is a U.S. citizen," Shupe said. Shupe said Rockdale County authorities have contacted the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement office, or ICE, and are waiting to hear back whether Maza-Castillio will be deported.
