Lowry claims second win at Thursday Thunder
HAMPTON - Covington's Kyle Lowry claimed his second Thursday Thunder win of the summer last week at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Lowry held off points leader Billy Fulson to win the first of Thursday's two races in the Charter Communications Pro division. In the second race, Lowry held the lead briefly before being passed by eventual winner Casey Roderick. Lowry finished second in the face. Eastside's Miller wins event at Indian Creek COVINGTON - Eastside golfer Tate Miller used a little home-course advantage Monday, winning the 18-hole open boys 15-18 division in the Atlanta Junior Golf Association (AJGA) event at Indian Creek. Miller had a four-stroke advantage over second-place finisher Ben Harris of Cohutta and an eight-stroke advantage over McDonough's Noah Nettleton in third. Covington's Quin Murphy came in second in the 18-hole boys 12-under division with a round of 93. Austin Penny of Griffin won the classification by shooting an 86. Also on Monday, Conyers' Harrison Elliott tied for second in the 18-hole open boys 13-14 division in the AJGA event played at the University of Georgia Golf Course in Athens. Elliott shot a 74 and tied with Toccoa's Michael Thompson. John Harman from Carrollton shot a 72 to win the event.More like this story
