CONYERS - Seven people were shot Saturday morning after a Fourth of July party turned violent.
According to a press statement released Saturday by the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office, approximately 100 people, mostly from DeKalb County and Florida, attended a reggae party at a house in the 1300 block of Farmer Road off Rockdale Industrial Boulevard. The house serves as both a residence and an office for a tractor-trailer delivery service, the Sheriff's Office reported. About 2:30 a.m., a fight apparently broke out and shots were fired. "Someone from the Florida group opened fire, and it remains unclear whether the DeKalb County group returned fire," the release states. The Sheriff's Office reported that seven people were shot. Four of the victims were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, two were treated and released at Rockdale Medical Center and a third remained hospitalized at an undisclosed location. No other information regarding the victims or possible suspects was released. According to Sheriff Jeff Wigington, no arrests had been made as of Saturday, but the shooting was an active and ongoing investigation.
