COVINGTON - Newton County authorities are seeking information leading to the whereabouts of several vandals, who reportedly inflicted between $20,000 and $30,000 worth of damage to an unoccupied house on Valley Brook Drive last week.
Just before 1 p.m. Jan. 18, Deputy Matt Roberts responded to the residence and spoke to the contractor who had been working on the home, according to a Newton County Sheriff's Office incident report. The contractor told the deputy that someone had unlawfully entered the residence and "completely destroyed" it, Roberts said. According to the report, every door in the house had either been broken in half or kicked through and all of the sinks had been turned on with clogged drains, causing them to overflow and flood the residence. Numerous holes had also been knocked in the walls and lights and mirrors throughout the home had been broken. Investigators ask that anyone with information about this case to call the NCSO at 678-625-1403. Tips can be given to the NCSO anonymously at 678-625-5007 or via the Web at www.newtonsheriffga.org and clicking on "anonymous tip line." Those who want a response from NCSO personnel should leave contact information. Joel Griffin can be reached at joel.griffin@newtoncitizen.com.More like this story
