CMS to hold young males lock-in
Conyers Middle School is conducting a leadership program for young males, the Young Males Program 2008, which was developed by the school's counseling department, graduation coach, coordinator of our Men of Distinction group, administration and male teachers to help provide the boys with the tools they will need in order to grow and develop into men. The students selected were identified as needing additional support in academic goals, career exploration and leadership skills.
Young males will be involved in workshops that are designed to assist them with their personal and academic goals, exploration of career opportunities and building and identifying leadership qualities. Also, they will participate in a ropes course sponsored by YMCA and receive information on maintaining good health.
They will meet at 4:30 p.m. today until 7:30 a.m. Saturday at Conyers Middle School.
The program is designed to be an overnight lock-in. The young males will remain at the school on tonight and be picked up by parents on Saturday.
CMS faculty and guidance counselors will facilitate the sessions and chaperoning students.
Sponsors are Zaxby's, Papa John's Pizza and Atlanta Bread Company.
