COVINGTON - Newton County School System parents who use Meal Pay Plus to pay their students' meal accounts are able to again use the service.
The Newton County Board of Education approved at its meeting last week a new management agreement that allowed the service to be available once more for Newton County parents.
The service was unavailable for most of this month due to a change in credit card processors, according to Deborah Robertson, associate superintendent for administration.
In December, the school system's software provider, Horizon, purchased Meal Pay. Horizon changed Meal Pay's management from EPOS to Retriever.
The school system's agreement with EPOS ended Dec. 31, and at the beginning of January, the school system did not have a new agreement signed with the management that now handles Meal Pay, Robertson said.
The board approved unanimously an agreement with Retriever on Jan. 15 and customers were able to use the service again as of Monday.
The school system encourages parents to call the school nutrition program manager at their children's schools to get an account balance update or any other information regarding paying for meals with Meal Pay.
For more information about Meal Pay, visit www.mealpayplus.com or call 866-900-5385.
To register for the system, parents or guardians will need their students' five-digit student ID.
