More than 125 volunteers helped clean the grounds of Graves Chapel Cemetery off U.S. Highway 278 on Monday as part of a community event organized by Hands On Newton in celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Jalisha Richmond, left, prepares to rub chalk over a grave marker, while Beth Fender of Hands On Georgia takes down information as part of a grave inventory conducted by volunteers. Oxford resident Pat Smith, right, said she came out because she wants to give back to the community and because her parents are buried in the historical cemetery in Oxford.More like this story
