Large, airy snowflakes swirl around the statue of an angel at Philadelphia United Methodist Church in Conyers on Saturday. This marked the second time this week that snow blanketed the area after snowfall came through Wednesday. According to the Associated Press, a mix of rain and sleet early Saturday morning turned into snowfall in the south metro Atlanta area later in the day. Up to two inches of snow was expected Saturday for the upper third of the state, an area that includes everything north of a line stretching from LaGrange to Athens, said Laura Griffith of the National Weather Service in Peachtree City. A 20 percent chance of snow showers was expected until 1 a.m. today, she said. Officials canceled a heavy snow warning for the area on Saturday morning.
