Mr. and Mrs. Howard E. Benford of Macon announce the engagement of their daughter, Brooke Elizabeth Benford, to Michael Boyd Nation, son of The Honorable Sidney L. and Dr. Carole B. Nation of Conyers. A 4:30 p.m. wedding and reception to follow will be held Feb. 16 at the King and Prince Resort on St. Simons Island.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. S. H. Burchfield of Humboldt, Iowa, and the late Mr. and Mrs. G.C. Benford Sr. of Albany. Brooke was a 1997 graduate of Mount de Sales Academy. She received a bachelor's degree in 2001 from the University of Georgia's Department of Family and Consumer Sciences in early childhood education. As an undergraduate, she was a member of the Kappa Delta Sorority. In 2005, she earned a master's degree in language and literacy education from the University of Georgia. Benford is employed by the Decatur City Schools as a kindergarten teacher.

The groom-elect is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Lee Roy Nation of Hull and the late Mr. Olin B. Boyd and Mrs. Elsie C. Boyd of Evans. Michael was a 1993 graduate of Heritage High School in Conyers. He received a bachelor's degree in management from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1997 where he was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He earned a juris doctor and a master's of business administration degree from the University of Georgia in 2001. Nation is in private practice as a trial attorney in Conyers.

After their honeymoon, the couple will reside in Decatur.
