ATHENS - Megan Darrah led five Georgia players in double figures with 19 points and the No. 10 Lady Bulldogs defeated Mississippi 75-62 Thursday night in the Southeastern Conference opener for both teams.
Georgia (14-1 overall, 1-0 SEC) led 38-27 at halftime, but Shantell Black scored nine straight points for Ole Miss to trim the margin to 40-36 with 17:01 to play. A 15-2 run by Georgia pushed the lead to 60-42 with 11:07 to go after Tasha Humphrey made a short jumper. Mississippi made one more run, scoring eight straight points on four free throws and two layups to cut the gap to 65-55 with 5:21 remaining. But that was as close as Ole Miss got. Angel Robinson scored 16 points and nine rebounds for Georgia, while Humphrey scored 14, Angela Puleo 13 and Ashley Houts 11.More like this story
