Man allegedly uses karate move on woman

COVINGTON - Covington authorities are investigating an incident in which a man, believed to be in his early 70s, reportedly "karate chopped" a woman outside a local thrift store last week.

Shortly before 5 p.m., police responded to Repairers of the Breach thrift store on Washington Street after receiving a complaint from the victim, according to an incident report completed by Covington Police Officer Oscar Rogers.

The 49-year-old victim told Rogers that the suspect, who she said is between 73 and 74 years old, "karate chopped" her in the throat and then walked behind her, attempting to place her in a "sleeper hold."

Rogers said the victim believed she knew who the suspect was and she indicated he was known to frequent the thrift store.

The suspect allegedly told the victim he was a professional wrestler in his youth.
