Wednesday evening proved to be a dreamy one for astronomy types. While cloudy skies were anticipated for much of the western United States, metro Atlantans were provided with a dazzling display of the last total lunar eclipse until Dec. 20, 2010. Staff photographer Robert Porter, who had a clear view from his yard in Rockdale County, took this shot of the moon as the earth's shadow crept slowly across its face at 9:16 p.m. By 10:01 p.m., the moon was completely eclipsed. From there, the moon began to emerge from the shadows, and by 1:17 a.m. it was full again.
