Alcovy Road I-20 ramp to shut down for construction

COVINGTON - The Georgia Department of Transportation will close the Interstate 20 westbound ramp from Alcovy Road from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, weather permitting.

The purpose of this temporary closure is to facilitate the placement of part of a new concrete ramp. Motorists will be detoured via signs. As with all road construction, motorists are advised to use extreme caution in construction work zones.

Georgia 511 is a free phone service that provides real time traffic and travel information statewide. Callers can reach live operators to request assistance or report incidents 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
