COVINGTON - The Georgia Department of Transportation will close the Interstate 20 westbound ramp from Alcovy Road from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, weather permitting.
The purpose of this temporary closure is to facilitate the placement of part of a new concrete ramp. Motorists will be detoured via signs. As with all road construction, motorists are advised to use extreme caution in construction work zones. Georgia DOT urges travelers to call 511 for updated information about this or any other construction project on interstates and state routes. Georgia 511 is a free phone service that provides real time traffic and travel information statewide. Callers can reach live operators to request assistance or report incidents 24 hours a day, seven days a week. More information is available at www.511ga.org.More like this story
