COVINGTON -The owner of a Covington physical rehabilitation clinic has been charged with sexual battery for allegedly touching one of his employees inappropriately.
The 19-year-old victim told police that her boss, physical therapist David N. Momah, 47, of 1100 Moccasin Trail, Loganville, touched her in an inappropriate manner, according to Det. Daniel Seals, spokesman for the Covington Police Department. The incident allegedly occurred Monday at Momah's business, Abanna Health & Rehab, 4124 U.S. Highway 278. Momah was taken into custody at his clinic Thursday afternoon following an investigation by Lt. Mark Jones. According to Seals, he was then taken to CPD headquarters for an interview, after which he was transported to the Newton County Detention Center. Seals said "a combination of physical evidence, witness information and interviews," led to Momah's arrest. Though he has owned several other rehab offices in other parts of the state, Seals said the Covington location is the only one they are aware of that Momah currently operates. Momah, who reportedly claims to hold both Ph.D. and M.D. degrees, is only licensed to practice physical therapy in Georgia. "(Momah) told us he offers physical therapy and pain management," Seals said. "We have found no licenses, currently active, for him to practice medicine other than physical therapy." According to Seals, Momah is married with at least one child. In addition to sexual battery, Momah, who is originally from Nigeria, has also been charged with one count of false imprisonment. He has been released on a $3,500 bond, according to jail records. Joel Griffin can be reached at joel.griffin@newtoncitizen.comMore like this story
