Jim and Marianne Quach, owners of the Silver Dragon Chinese Restaurant in Conyers, stand with students, left to right, Hayley Pemberton, Janay Bennett, Powar Troy and Sanaya Ward. The children are prekindergarten students at Fairview Elementary School. Shelley Yeatman's Pre-K class visited the restaurant on Jan. 30 as part of learning about Chinese New Year. After serving a traditional Chinese meal, the Quaches gave each child a bag of lucky money, Chinese rice candy and a fortune cookie. Some of the class' Chinese New Year learning activities included: learning how to use chopsticks at school to practice for the restaurant, pretending to have their own Chinese restaurant at school, learning about the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac, learning to count to 10 in Chinese, writing words in Chinese calligraphy, listening to Chinese music and watching "The Adventures of Big Bird in China." Students in the class are: Aric Reed, Aniah Jackson, Austin Jeselnik, Derryl Holmes, Grayson Malcom, Hayley Pemberton, James Powlette, Janay Bennet, Joshua Sewell, Kennedi Rogers, Leah Patterson, Michaella Cowin, Na'im Sayles, Nicholas Cowin, Nicholas Ferington, Nyla Wooden, Powar Troy, Sanaya Ward and Simone Martin.
