Newton County Board of Education 2007 Chairman Johnny Smith, left, passes the gavel to the newly nominated 2008 Chairman Almond Turner, center, who was the 2007 vice chairman. Board member Rickie Corley, right, will serve as 2008 vice chairman. The Newton County BOE unanimously approved the nominations at its January board meeting. They will assume those positions starting immediately and will serve through the Board's regularly scheduled meeting in January 2009.
