Seminole squads, Lady Eagles earn victories

The Salem girls basketball team beat Forest Park 48-31 to secure a third-place finish in the Henry County Classic on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the Eastside girls topped Stone Mountain 71-61 in overtime at the Great Southern Shootout.

In boys action, Salem beat Eagle's Landing 80-50 in the seventh-place game at the Henry County Classic.


Salem 48, Forest Park 31

McDonough - Precious Elkins collected 15 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Lady Seminoles (12-2) to victory at Henry County High School.

Ariel Wynter added 10 points and nine boards for Salem, while Jaleen Thomas chipped in 10 points.

Salem returns to action Jan. 9 in its Region 8-AAAA South opener at Loganville.

Eastside 71,

Stone Mountain 61 (OT)

Macon - senior center Ashley Crew had a team-high 18 points as the Lady Eagles (4-4) evened their record with an overtime win at Westside-Macon High School.

Sophomore point guard Jjade Cook added 13 points for Eastside, while senior J'Qyra Moncur-Blue and sophomore Paige Alexander each added nine.

The Lady Eagles return to action at 1 p.m. Friday against Whitewater in the Charger Hooptacular in McDonough


Salem 80, Eagle's Landing 50

McDonough - the Seminoles (5-9) used a balanced scoring attack to subdue Eagle's Landing in the seventh-place game.

Freshman Shaquille Johnson had 13 points to lead Salem. Jonathon Slade and Tevin Bradley each chipped in 12.
