CONYERS - A woman was arrested Friday afternoon after she allegedly came to the Rockdale County Sheriff's Office while drunk and assaulted a deputy who is eight months pregnant, according to Sgt. Jodi Shupe.
Destiny Lasae Mansur, 36, of 2805 Lee Court was arrested and charged with obstruction of a law enforcement officer and pubic drunkeness. Shupe said Mansur was at the sheriff's office to ask questions regarding some domestic papers that had been filed against her husband. "A female deputy at the sheriff's office, who is eight months pregnant, approached Ms. Mansur to respond to her questions, and upon speaking to her the deputy noticed a strong odor of alcohol," Shupe said. "When the deputy asked for Ms. Mansur's identification, Ms. Mansur got agitated and continually tried to evade giving the deputy her identification." Shupe said when the deputy continued asking for identification, Mansur began to insist upon leaving the building and going to her vehicle. "The deputy knew this would be a danger to herself and to others," Shupe said. When the deputy tried to prevent Mansur from leaving, the woman placed her hands on the deputy in what Shupe described as "an aggressive manner." The deputy then called for the assistance of other deputies, and the woman was subdued and taken into custody. The pregnant deputy was taken by ambulance to Rockdale Medical Center, where she was treated and released. Shupe said further charges may be filed against Mansur.More like this story
