NCSO: 22 guns stolen
Man says someone broke into house

COVINGTON - A Newton County man reported to the Sheriff's Office that someone broke into his home and stole more than $31,000 worth of property, including diamond rings, Rolex watches, electronics, revolvers, rifles, shotguns and pistols.

The victim told sheriff's deputies that some time between 2:30 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday, someone entered his Creekview Boulevard residence and took a number of items.

"We are looking into how the residence was entered and we have put the weapons on the statewide and national crime database," said Lt. Mark Mitchell with the Newton County Sheriff's Office. "Any help from the community would be appreciated."

Among the items reported stolen were several pieces of diamond jewelry, a computer, a flat-screen TV, a digital camera and several guns, including:

· two Smith and Wesson revolvers;

· two Remington rifles;

· a Browning rifle;

· two Remington 16-gauge shotguns;

· a Remington 12-gauge shotgun;

· two Browning 12-gauge shotguns;

· a Remington Ultra Mag;

· a Ruger .357 revolver;

· a Marlin .22 rifle;

· a Marlin 30/30;

· a Browning 16-gauge shotgun;

· a Harris 410-gauge shotgun;

· two CVA .50-caliber muzzle loaders (one with a scope);

· a Remington 28-gauge shotgun;

· two Glock 9-mm pistols;

· a Ruger 7 mm magnum;

· a gun case;

· four rifle scopes.
