COVINGTON - A 65-year-old Newton County man has been arrested and charged with having improper sexual contact with a 15-year-old relative.
Thomas Edward Hamby of 1246 Henderson Mill Road was arrested Thursday afternoon. According to the incident report, the alleged victim said Hamby, a family member, had touched her improperly. Hamby was arrested after deputies took witness statements and obtained other evidence, said Lt. Mark Mitchell with the Newton County Sheriff's Office. Hamby was charged with felony child molestation and misdemeanor sexual battery. The investigation is continuing and no further information was released.More like this story
