Oxford College freshman Allison Shiffett of Peachtree City takes a load of things into her dorm while her father Jeff brings in another bundle as she begins her college career Thursday. Students at Oxford College are moving into their dormitories this week before classes begin Wednesday. The college reported record admissions this year with nearly 725 students; the number of applications rose 68 percent to 3,807. Incoming students are from 371 different high schools in 36 different states and 32 countries. The college reports the students are some of the academically strongest students with an average GPA of 3.5, middle SAT scores between 1130 and 1330 and an average ACT score of 26.More like this story
