COVINGTON - Covington Police Department officials thanked the many concerned residents who contacted them with information concerning the whereabouts of an elderly gentleman they feared had gone missing when they confirmed Monday he had been located safe and sound.
The CPD requested last week help in its search for 68-year-old William F. Worley after friends at a local nursing home notified his daughter that they were alarmed because he had abruptly stopped his daily visits to the facility. Worley, who was often seen using a motorized wheelchair along U.S. Highway 278, had simply decided to pull up his roots and make a move, CPD Capt. Craig Treadwell said. "A lady he'd rented a room from called on Friday afternoon," he said. "He doesn't really stay in close contact with the family he does have ... and he'd just decided to move." After speaking with Worley to ensure he was OK, the CPD notified his family of his whereabouts. Colin M. Stewart may be reached at colin.stewart@rockdalecitizen.com.More like this story
