Golfers participating in Project ReNeWal's largest fundraiser of the year took to the greens Friday. This year's efforts for the battered women's shelter that serves Rockdale, Newton and Walton counties will be directed toward a fund to purchase playground equipment for the children who live in the shelter. Director Vickie Stevenson said board members selected a playset for about $15,000 from Southern Playgrounds in Marietta, have already raised $7,000 and are hoping proceeds from the golf tournament that attracted 25 four-man teams will put them over the top.More like this story
