CONYERS - The Rockdale County state swim team turned in a spectacular performance at the Georgia Recreation and Park Association state swim meet in Augusta, winning five gold medals.
Rockdale swim coach Gregg Ellwanger said the overall performance of the team was one of the best he's ever seen by a Rockdale County swim team.
"Almost all of the swimmers swam personal best times. Never has the Rockdale team won as many golds as this year," Ellwanger said.
Among those winning gold medals were Matthew Tibbetts, Drew Ellwanger and Jack Mitchell.
Tibbetts and Drew Ellwanger both brought home two gold medals apiece.
