COVINGTON - An 18-year-old woman has reported to the Newton County Sheriff's Office that she has been the victim of ongoing acts of molestation by her stepfather since she was 14, according to Investigator Sharron Stewart.
Stewart said the woman called the NCSO to ask for an escort as she went to her home to pick up some personal items. While the deputy was there, she told him that she lived at the location with her mother and 63-year-old stepfather and went on to report that her stepfather had "touched her inappropriately and it had been going on since she was 14," Stewart said. According to Stewart, because the alleged abuse began when the woman was a minor, the crime is being investigated as child molestation.More like this story
