Heritage girls fall to Dacula

DACULA - The Heritage girls finished fourth on the girls' side of the Region 8-AAAA tournament after losing to Dacula in penalty kicks on Tuesday at Dacula High School.

The two teams battled to a scoreless tie in the first half before Dacula went up 1-0 off a Heritage own goal.

However, the Lady Patriots' Nadia Bryan found the back of the net to tie the game with 20 minutes left on the clock.

The 1-1 tie held until the end of regulation and through two scoreless five minute overtimes. But in PKs, the Lady Patriots were edged 3-2.

"They were two very evenly matched teams," Heritage girls coach Chad Suddeth said. "Still, I felt like we won the second half. I'm proud of the girls. They played with more tenacity than I've seen them play with all season."

With the loss, the Lady Patriots will play Marist in the first round of state.
