COVINGTON - The Newton County School System will be closed next week for spring holidays.
Starting Monday and continuing until Friday, all schools in the system, as well as the central office, will be closed. "No one will be in the main office to answer calls during the holiday break, but messages can be left on the school system's voice mail system," according to a press release from NCSS. Sherri Viniard, director of public relations for NCSS, said any messages left at the school system's main line, 770-787-1330, will be returned the week after spring break, when all school personnel will return. Students, teachers, administrators and other NCSS employees should report back to schools and the central office April 14. Due to the spring break, the Newton County Board of Education will not have a meeting during the week of April 7. As noted on its meeting schedule calendar, released at the beginning of the year, the board will hold its monthly work session at 7 p.m. April 15, and its monthly meeting 7 p.m. April 22. The meetings are held in Board of Education's board room, located at 2109 Newton Drive N.E. in Covington and are open to the public. The next break doesn't come until the end of the school year for summer break, which begins May 26. Michelle Floyd can be reached at michelle.floyd@newtoncitizen.com.More like this story
