The Covington Lions Club is getting the grills ready for their 36th Annual Chicken BBQ from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. April 9 at Academy Springs Park Pavilion on Conyers Street. Plates will be $6 and include a half BBQ chicken, cole slaw, bread, potato chips and iced tea. Above, Randy Worthington, left, and Joe Courchaine are shown preparing the delectible chicken at last year's event. Proceeds will go to aid Lions charities, including Georgia Lighthouse Foundation, Emory Children's Eye Center, Georgia Lions Camp for the Blind and Dyslexic, Leader Dogs for the Blind, Lions Club International Foundation, Georgia Lions All State Band and Girls and Boys State. Lions will also collect unused eyeglasses, cell phones and hearing aids for the needy.
