COVINGTON - A Mansfield man was killed in a traffic accident on County Line Road between Henderson Mill Road and Ga. Highway 11 last week.
According to Lt. Bill Watterson, spokesman for the Newton County Sheriff's Office, the victim Gregory Durdan, 45, was driving a 1987 Dodge Dakota Thursday afternoon when it crossed the center line and struck a 1994 Ford F-150 pickup. There was no evidence that alcohol was a factor in the crash, Watterson said. In other news, four people were taken to local hospitals Tuesday following an accident on Ga. Highway 212. According to Newton County Fire Chief Mike Satterfield, the victims were riding in a van near the Yellow River shortly before 3:30 p.m. when it rolled over. Two of the victims were taken by air ambulance to a nearby hospital. As of press time Tuesday, no further information was available.
