Salem, Heritage girls in tourney finals

MORROW - Both the Heritage boys and girls basketball teams were in action Friday night in a tournament at Morrow High School. The Salem girls were also in action Friday night in a tournament at Union Grove High School.

Both the Salem girls and the Heritage girls are 2-0 on the season and will play again today in the finals of their respective tournaments.

The Salem girls advanced to the finals of their tournament with a 62-36 win over Union Grove. The Lady Seminoles play Jonesboro at 7 p.m. today.

"Tonight was a good win," Salem coach Bill Roberts said. "We now have to come out and play well against a scrappy Jonesboro team. They are a lot like us."

Courtney Hurt led the way with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Rebecca Mitchell had 14 points and Jasmine Patrick added 10.

Meanwhile, the Heritage girls collected a 42-32 win over Lovejoy.
