Officials with the Newton County Sheriff's Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have arrested a suspect following the identification of the woman whose remains were found scattered in Newton County last month.
According to a press release from the GBI, 47-year-old Franklin Benson was arrested Sunday and was expected to be charged with murder. Currently, he is being held in the Newton County Detention Center The dismembered body parts located on the property behind a home on Ga. 212 have been identified as those of Benson's girlfriend, Leslyan Williams, 49, of Decatur. While her head and torso remain missing, she was identified by the fingerprints taken from one of the hands found on the property. The GBI says that the investigation will continue, and anyone with information on either Williams or Benson was asked to call the GBI Tip Line at 1-800-597-TIPS (8477).More like this story
