The Conyers' chapter of the National Society of Daughters of American Revolution held its monthly meeting on Oct. 24 at the Epiphany Lutheran Church on Ga. Highway 20. Hostesses for the meeting were Grace Bryant, Joyce O'Malley and Fran Passmore.
Regent Janet Skelton presided over the meeting and led members and guests in the DAR Ritual, Pledge to the Flag and the American's Creed. Regent Skelton welcomed members and guests. Vice Regent Sara Frances Hall introduced the program guest speaker, Mr. Darrell Huckaby. Mr. Huckaby is a local educator, he writes columns for a large number of local (and not so local) newspapers, and is the author of several best-selling books. He is an avid alumni and loyal fan of the University of Georgia. Some of his most popular books are written based on fictional and entertaining accounts of the Georgia Dawgs faithful. Mr. Huckaby presented a program on Jamestown. This year is the 400th anniversary of the founding of Jamestown in 1607. His program was especially interesting to chapter members, all of whom can trace their lineage back to the American Revolution and further. His presentation was refreshing and inspiring, and revealed his vast knowledge and enthusiasm for historical facts on the founding and colonization of America, and the founding patriots who gave so much that we have the great Nation we have today.More like this story
