COVINGTON - Those who shop at yard sales on the weekends can get a bargain and help out a good cause Saturday.
The Newton High School Touchdown Club, which supports the school's football program, will hold its first yard sale from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday in the lower parking lot by the tennis courts at the school. "The reason for doing a yard sale is so that we can raise funds to further support the football program and athletics at Newton High School," said Christian Amos, head strength coach and assistant football coach at the school. "The yard sale not only helps us by raising funds, but it is good for everyone else because they get a great deal on good items." Community members donated many of the items that will be sold Saturday. Some items include weight lifting equipment, clothes, a ping pong table, a foosball table, kitchen items, various electronics, designer bags, a propane dryer, a bicycle, books and toys, among others. "Pricing is very simple; all small items and clothing are 50 cents, and larger items are $1, unless otherwise marked," Amos said. "All item prices are negotiable." Money raised will go toward the football program, as well as other student programs, at the school. Michelle Floyd can be reached at michelle.floyd@newtoncitizen.com.More like this story
