COVINGTON - A Newton County teen was allegedly mugged by four suspects earlier this week, according to the Newton County Sheriff's Office.
The 13-year-old victim told authorities he was walking in a field behind the Meadowbrook Mobile Home Park off of Ga. Highway 142 when he was suddenly attacked by the suspects and robbed, according to an incident report completed by Deputy Wesley Atha. The perpetrators took the boy's cell phone and wallet, which contained a $50 gift card, school ID and $70 in cash. The suspects then fled the scene in a green, older model Oldsmobile. According to NCSO Investigator Sharron Stewart, the victim knew several of the people who robbed him. Authorities ask that anyone with information about this incident contact the NCSO at 678-625-1403.
