COVINGTON - Newton County authorities released the name of a woman whose body was found on the shore of Jackson Lake earlier this month.
The victim, Judy Hawkins, 59, was found lying with her feet in the water in front of her house the morning of Dec. 4. Lt. Bill Watterson, spokesman for the Newton County Sheriff's Office, said Hawkins' cause of death is still undetermined, but indications are that her death was the result of natural causes. Investigators are still awaiting toxicology reports to make a final determination as to what exactly killed her. Authorities have been unable to locate Hawkins' next of kin.
