Former Salem girls standouts Kristina Huff and Joy Thomas have been reunited on the basketball court at Lawson State Community College in Birmingham, Ala.
Huff, a sophomore guard, ranks third in the Alabama Community College Conference with 4.1 assists per game. She is also fourth in the league in assists/turnover ration at 2.31. Huff is averaging 2.6 points a game for Lawson.
Thomas, a freshman, scored a career-high 11 points against L.B. Wallace back on Nov. 26. She is averaging 3.3 points and 3.4 rebounds a game for Lawson.
Dobbs shines again for Truett-McConnell
Before Truett-McConnell College's winter break, former Heritage's Jaquas Dobbs scored 15 points and led the Bears in rebounds with eight in an 81-63 victory against Atlanta Metropolitan College.
Dobbs is ninth in the Georgia Junior College Athletic Association in scoring at 12.3 points a game. He is third in field goal percentage at 57 percent and seventh in rebounding at 6.9 boards per game.
The Bears will not play again until Jan. 9.
Mitchell strong on the boards for Agnes Scott
Rockdale's Nicole Mitchell continues to lead the Great South Athletic Conference in rebounding.
The senior played 40 minutes and pulled down a game-high 12 boards in Agnes Scott's 43-32 victory over Sewanee University on Dec. 8.
Mitchell leads the GSAC in rebounding at 12.3 per game. She is one of only two players averaging double-digit rebounds a game in the league. The senior leads the league in defensive rebounds at 8.0 per contest and is second in offensive rebounds at 4.3 per game.
She is also tied for sixth in the league in steals at 2.0 per game.
