The annual Holidays Around the World celebration at the Newton Campus of Georgia Perimeter College, on Nov. 28. was attended by over 100 students, faculty, staff, and members of the community. Guests speakers included Dr. A. Amarasinghe of the Georgia Buddhist Vihara; the Rev. Mr. Brian Kilkelly, Deacon of St. Pius Catholic Church of Conyers; Rabbi Scott Saulson of the Atlanta Rabbinical Association; and Soumaya Khalifa of the Islamic Speakers Bureau of Atlanta. These and other speakers gave a short series of multi-cultural, mini-lectures about holidays celebrated in the U.S. and other countries.
Music was provided by Scott Douglas and his Panorama Steel Band. After the program, desserts and foods representing over 20 different cultures were served during a reception.More like this story
