ATLANTA - Salem's swim teams lost a hard-fought contest to Paideia on Wednesday at the MLK Natatorium.
Salem produced a strong effort, but lost to Paideia by a combined score of 189-144. The Seminoles were able to pick up the win on the boys side with an 89-79 victory. However, the Paideia girls swam to a 110-55 victory in the girls portion of the meet Salem swim coach Lisa Boyd was proud of her team's effort, especially since the Paideia boys team placed 37th in the state last year. Salem had several first-place finishes on the night in Lindsay McMullen (200-yard freestyle), Carlisle Whitley (200 individual medley), Logan Gunzenhauser (50 freestyle), Josh Danforth (100 backstroke) and Logan Gunzenhauser (100 breaststroke). The boys 400 free relay team, which consists of Whitley, Matt Neisler, Gunzenhauser and Matt Tibbetts, also won first place. Other notable performances were turned in by Walker Whitley, who finished second in the 100 flystroke, and freshman Matt Eble, who finished third in the 500 freestyle.
