Eastside ranked No. 1 in wrestling COVINGTON - Eastside's wrestling program claimed the No. 1 spot this in the GaSports.com Class AAAA poll. The Eagles started the preseason at No. 3 before becoming the top team in the state after the first week of voting. "Since it is a coaches poll, I appreciate the fact that other AAAA coaches hold us in such high regard," Eastside wrestling coach Brandon Blakeman said. "At the same time, it just means that now we have the largest target on our backs, not Stockbridge." The Eagles improved their record to 15-0 last week, which included a 39-35 win over preseason No. 1 Stockbridge. They will be on the mats again on Friday and Saturday when they participate in the South Metro Tournament. Stockbridge dropped to second, followed by Whitewater, Tucker, Northwest Whitfield, Ringgold, Cherokee, Lakeview-Ft. Oglethorpe, Southwest DeKalb and Dacula.
