LOGANVILLE - The Salem boys did not enjoy their first foray into Region 8-AAAA action Friday night.
Loganville scored off a rebound in the final seconds to claim a 47-46 victory over the Seminoles (2-2).
Alex Miller paced Salem with 10 points, while Zach Roddenberry and Darius Ferguson each chipped in nine.
"I thought we played good primary defense, but we didn't rebound as aggressively as in previous games," Salem coach Darren Wilkins said. "We are still working on finding good combinations. This is the group's first full week together, so I'm not overly disappointed with the game. We just have to keep working hard to get in shape and find an offensive rhythm."
Salem returns to action at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in its home opener against Madison County.
Clarke Central 44, Alcovy 38
ATHENS - Darreion Robinson made three crucial free throws and John Wilson scored a late layup as the Gladiators beat Alcovy in its season opener.
Junior Brad Williams had 12 points to pace the Tigers, while Keenan Black added seven and Worrel Clahar finished with five.
Alcovy returns to action Friday in its home opener against Jackson County.
Dacula 67, Rockdale 54
DACULA - Brian Cole had 19 points to lead the Falcons (4-0) to a victory over the Bulldogs (0-1).
Nate Gissentaner tallied 14 points, including two 3-pointers, to lead Rockdale. Darius McKnight added 11 points and Duane Ferrell chipped in eight.
Rockdale played host to Clarke Central last night.
Loganville 63, Salem 62
LOGANVILLE - The Salem girls (2-2) dropped their second straight game, falling by a point to the Lady Red Devils.
Senior center Courtney Hurt had a game-high 33 points and 10 rebounds for the Lady Seminoles, while Ariel Winter chipped in 10 points and a team-high 11 boards.
Salem returns to action Tuesday against visiting Madison County at 6 p.m. in a rematch of last year's Region 8-AAAA championship game. Madison won the title with a 52-48 victory.
Dacula 63, Rockdale 44
DACULA - Abbie Daniel tossed in a game-high 20 points as the Lady Falcons (2-2) spoiled the season opener for the Lady Bulldogs.
Miasia Burks paced Rockdale with nine points. Giovanni Sims contributed seven points and five rebounds and Lauren Stewart chipped in six points and four boards.
Rockdale hosted Clarke Central last night.
Clarke Central 81, Alcovy 28
ATHENS - The Lady Tigers had no answer for the Lady Gladiators in their season opener.
No details on the game were reported.
Alcovy will host Jackson County on Friday at 7 p.m.
